Huangshan Travel

the sun rise, top of yellow mountain.

Introduction

Huangshan is a city in East China, and the itineraries in the data pack behind this guide run from one to five days. The highest rates sit at the longer lengths: five-day routes carry 39% and four-day routes 36%, while one- and two-day routes each post 29% and three-day routes 26% (the pack also logs a second four-day entry at 26%).

The pack’s stop list runs to ten names. Huangshan Scenic Area is the namesake scenic area on that list, joined on the mountain side by the West Sea Grand Canyon, Bright Summit, Shixin Peak, the Flying-Over Rock, and the Yuping and Beihai scenic areas. Three stops sit away from the mountain: Hongcun, Xidi and Tunxi Old Street. That pairing is the practical default to plan around — the pack’s stop list puts mountain stops alongside Hongcun, Xidi and Tunxi Old Street, and the longer route lengths leave room for both.

Suggested itineraries

Work from the route lengths the pack actually records. Five-day itineraries carry the highest share at 39%, four-day routes follow at 36%, one- and two-day routes each sit at 29%, and three-day routes at 26% (a second four-day entry logs 26%). On those numbers, 4–5 days is the reliable planning window: it matches the two highest shares in the pack and leaves room for both halves of the ten-stop list — the mountain stops (Huangshan Scenic Area, West Sea Grand Canyon, Bright Summit, Shixin Peak, Flying-Over Rock, Yuping Scenic Area, Beihai Scenic Area) and the three stops away from the mountain (Hongcun, Xidi, Tunxi Old Street).

Shorter trips appear in the pack too, but they force a trade-off. At one or two days (29% each) there is no room for the full list, so build the trip around either the mountain stops or Hongcun, Xidi and Tunxi Old Street. Three-day routes (26%) fall in between. Note that the pack does not break down which stops each route length includes, so these pairings are planning defaults drawn from the stop list, not recorded itineraries.

Things to Do

The pack’s ten stops are an inventory, not a ranking: it records them as stops seen across routes with no frequency or composition data, so no stop is flagged as more central than another. Huangshan Scenic Area is the namesake scenic area on the list. The remaining mountain-side stops are the West Sea Grand Canyon, Bright Summit, Shixin Peak, the Flying-Over Rock, and the Yuping and Beihai scenic areas — by name, a set of peaks, a canyon and a rock formation.

Away from the mountain, the list adds Hongcun, Xidi and Tunxi Old Street. The pack carries no prices, opening hours, transport details or visitor figures for any stop, so confirm those before you go. What the pack does establish is the shape of a Huangshan trip: mountain stops plus Hongcun, Xidi and Tunxi Old Street, with four to five days the window that fits the list.
